This black, white, and red banded snake can be found all over open spaces of Orange County, they are non-venomous and are no threat to humans but actually benefit humans by keeping the rodent population under control which is their primary prey. These snakes are typically pretty docile so if you see one on the trail, just enjoy the sighting and let it be on its way.
