One of the most elusive animals in the Santa Ana Mountains, ringtails are members of the raccoon family and rarely come out during daylight. They can be predated on by many different animals like hawks, owls, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, and mountain lions. For that reason, it's very rare to see them since they have to stay hidden. They eat a large variety of things like berries, insects, small birds, mice, snakes, lizards, and even squirrels.
