What if you encounter a newt?

One of the deadliest animals in Orange County based on statistics, newts are not venomous but are poisonous which means the toxins are only transferred to humans if you were to eat one. Newts inhabit creeks but can be found as far as a couple miles from a water source depending on the time of year. These cute amphibians live a peaceful lives enjoying the creeks and can breathe in and out of water. Like other wildlife, they don't want to be bothered, their bright colors warn any predators that they are poisonous and it would be lethal to eat them.
If you are lucky enough to find a newt, enjoy the cool sight! However, it's best to just leave them alone. They are not aggressive in any way and simply don't want to be bothered.
