Lyon Air Museum

Step back in time at this hidden gem in Orange County to see historic planes, vehicles, and more! All planes here are airworthy and very well kept.

Lyon Air Museum

So much history

Lyon Air Museum was founded by Major General William Lyon who was a decorated military veteran and very successful businessman, and one of the most influential people in Orange County. General Lyon loved aviation and participated in WW2 and the Korean War. In 1954, General William Lyon began a home building business in Orange County for military members returning home from the Vietnam War. That eventually turned into what we now know as William Lyon Homes.

This air museum is truly a hidden gem that we are lucky to have here, located just on the backside of John Wayne Airport tucked away from the freeway and main roads. As soon as you step into this place, you are in awe of these historic planes and how well these planes are kept up. You will be greeted by volunteer docents which are typically veterans and extremely knowledgeable about all the pieces of history here.
