Eaton Canyon Falls

A popular waterfall in Los Angeles County, Eaton Canyon Falls is a beautiful waterfall and worth checking out. The hike starts right at the boundary between human development and the wilderness of the San Gabriel Mountains. The hike is 3.5 miles roundtrip and takes you through a canyon filled with trees and a flowing creek that really makes a pretty hike. You will be crossing this creek a few times so bring water friendly shoes if you have time. The water feels very good if you're able to cross through it rather than balancing on the rocks to cross over it.

This hike gets very crowded during weekends and holidays especially when there is good flow around the spring time and into early summer. To avoid the biggest crowds, arrive early in the morning or on a weekday.

Directions

To reach the trailhead, navigate to this location. There is a large parking lot with an overflow area. If these lots fill up, you'll have to park in the residential area. There are always people leaving though as they finish the hike so spots will open up. The trailhead starts with a flat, wide open path which is easy to follow.

The Hike

The hike begins with a flat, easy trail but once it enters the canyon, the trail becomes more narrow with creek crossings. The trail meanders but stays in the canyon so it is very easy to follow even with the creek crossings and splits. Depending on the flow of water, the hike can look different but you'll basically be following the canyon regardless.
