Red-shouldered Hawk

Not as common as other hawks around Orange County, this one can be confused with a Red-tailed Hawk or a Coopers Hawk as it does share similar features with both birds, it has a reddish color like a red-tail except for the tail which is more similar to a Coopers with its banded tail. You will typically find them in the more forested areas of Orange County hunting small rodents and frogs.
