Entangled Humpback Whale

Entangled humpback whale

Another whale entangled in rope shows up off the coast of Orange County on Wednesday morning which was first spotted by Captain Taylor of Newport Coastal Adventure who documented the encounter and reported it to entanglement crews from NOAA as well as Alisa Schulman-Janiger. After this sighting, nobody was able to re find this whale as it headed West but other whale watching companies were notified to keep a lookout for it. It was about 7 miles out from Huntington Beach Pier. If you encounter this whale that had blue/green ropes protruding from its mouth, hail the US Coast Guard on CH 16 or call 1-877-SOS-WHALE. Please give it this distressed whale extra space while documenting its location, which way it's heading, and try to get photos. Do not try to entangle the whale yourself, there are trained professionals with the right equipment that are trained for these incidents.
